• Public Radio Podcasts

Shortly after the news that CBC is now podcasting, it looks like Tod’s PublicRadioFeeds.com has some competition: PublicRadioFan.com now has special podcast listings.

  • CKDU podcasting opportunity?

When I was home a few weeks ago, Laura told me about a new vegan baking show on CKDU — Let’s Get Baked with Mat and Dave. I’d not heard it before, but was delighted to find a halifaxlocals post about the show, reminding me that past programming is archived at ckdu.dal.ca.

Might I suggest that great community radio + mp3 archives = a pretty good podcasting opportunity? Even though the broadcast start and end times are variable, I’m sure the talented Mr. Dunlap could whip up a nice handmade XML feed.

    I’d subscribe.

  • Interning at CBL

I started interning at CBL a few weeks ago, and I’ve been having a blast. Mostly, I’ve been chase producing for Metro Morning. I’m learning a lot, witnessing the grind of a local morning show, and getting my hands dirty. Plus, I get to write greens for interviews with Geddy Lee. Who could ask for more?

  • CBC to get major boost in budget

Opened the paper this morning to some potentially good news: CBC to get major boost in budget:

The CBC will get a multimillion-dollar boost when the federal budget is tabled Wednesday, CP has learned. The extra cash will be enough to restore local programs, notably regional newscasts, a senior government source said on condition of anonymity.

Here’s hoping that somewhere in those first 34 million dollars there’s some money to give me some regional backfill work this summer.
